Ask these four band members a question about their favourite hobbies, sports or movies and you will get four different answers. But if there is one thing that the four band members of Alternative Rock band Drywater agree on, it’s the fact that they are very serious about their music.
They all have the same music aspirations, namely to make it big in the music industry, playing their own, original music. They dream about playing crowds at Wembley and touring the States. And these four certainly have the drive and the determination to just that.
Drywater is a solid group with plenty of experience and musical talent.
They have shared a stage with South African music stalwarts, such as Die Heuwels Fantasties, Prime Cirlce, Wonderboom, Van Coke Kartel, Straatligkinders, Karen Zoid and Zebra and Giraffe, to name a few. They will perform anywhere, as long as there is an appreciative audience, but the group has particularly fond memories of Aardklop and Hatfield Square.
Even though they live and breathe music, none of them are full-time musicians at present.
Lead singer Hanno is a sound engineer and acoustics treatment technician, Bernard is studying B.Com Human Resource Management, Henno is a sales representative for Jockey and Rudi is a fourth-year education student.
When asked what they like to do in their spare time, playing music is the first answer they all give. In addition, Hanno enjoys cycling, Bernard is into drumming, Henno loves spending time outdoors on the water and Rudi likes to play sports.
They all draw inspiration from different sources. They all like different sports and different sports teams. But when the four of them go on stage to perform, they become a formidable unit – one that has a bright future ahead.
